No Student Should Fall Behind
With Covid disrupting the dynamics of the 2020-21 school year, many parents are worried about their students falling behind.
The research-proven answer to prevent students from falling behind?
Educational mentorship.
As Plutarch once surmised, "The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled.” Unfortunately, most tutoring is instructional, putting students in the passenger seat. The Aspire approach is just the opposite. Through a team of tutors stocked with content expertise and emotional intelligence, our students are asked questions that build on their prior knowledge and bring them to a stronger conceptual understanding of the material. Then, to ensure they understand it, they teach it back to the tutor. It leads not only to deeper knowledge of the content, but greater confidence to tackle problems when the tutor isn't there. This active learning approach has the following effects:
- It makes tutoring more interesting and fun.
- It fosters appreciation of learning.
- It helps students practice self expression, critical thinking, and self initiated inquiry.
That’s how our students not only meaningfully better their grades but are prepared to be successful in the next phase of their educational careers.
