CRB Program Coordinator

Oakland, CA and Richmond, CA

Part-Time Employee; Seasonal

Pay: $30-40/hour (session time), $25/hour admin time

Job Description and Details
Each CRB Program Coordinator is responsible for leading one or two of our in-person program sites for the full duration of the Fall 2026 season. CRB program sessions take place twice per week (Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday) after school at elementary school campuses in oakland, Richmond, and San Pablo. The Program Coordinator delivers our CRB training to teens, tracks attendance, observes sessions, and works with our program partners on-site to ensure a safe, high quality program. In addition, Program Coordinators play a role in helping to support the continuous improvement of the CRB program in a variety of ways, including supporting recruiting of staff, mentors, and buddies, refining curriculum, supporting community outreach efforts, and more. This is a role that balances significant individual responsibility with the benefits of being part of a supportive team.

This position requires a commitment for a minimum of one program season (late August through end of November) with the option to renew for future seasons. It also requires the person in this role to reliably to commute to/from program sites; note that Aspire does not pay for commute time. We strongly encourage folks who have participated in our programs, particularly as Youth Mentors or Lead Mentors, to apply!

Job Responsibilities:

Lead one to two in-person CRB reading sessions in Oakland or Richmond/San Pablo, CA. Reading sessions take place twice weekly (Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday) from roughly 4-6 pm
Facilitate training for teen Youth Mentors using Aspire curriculum in a compelling, engaging way.
Work with CRB staff to support critical operational processes including attendance tracking, leveling, and survey administration
Lead communication with elementary school student families and teen mentors during the program season, escalating to CRB staff when necessary
Observe and support Youth Mentor and Buddy pairs during program sessions as needed
Other duties and tasks as assigned

Requirements:

High degree of responsibility and dependability. Program participants are counting on you.
Flexibility and creativity. Aspire will provide training, but our program has lots of humans, including little humans. Surprises are the norm, and being able to react flexibly is key.
Effective written and oral communication, including the ability to facilitate discussion and adapt your style to meet the needs of different audiences.
Experience working with children, preferably at the lower elementary school level.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
Good organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks at once.
Familiarity with Google Suite and Zoom.
Located in Bay Area, CA with ability to commute to Oakland or Richmond / San Pablo for twice-weekly in-person reading sessions

Not Required But Great:

Language skills (especially Spanish, Arabic, Vietnamese, Mandarin, or Cantonese)
Experience as a participant (Buddy or Mentor) in the CRB program
Experience using Airtable

Academic Tutor

Bay Area, CA

Job Description and Details
Aspire has more than 20 years of experience delivering high quality, affordable educational services for students throughout the Bay Area. We partner with schools and youth-serving organizations like Girls Inc of Alameda County, the YMCA of the East Bay, and the Boys and Girls Club of San Francisco to deliver effective tutoring and mentorship to students throughout the Bay Area.
As an after-school academic tutor, you will work with students in small groups, providing engaging, student-centered tutoring that builds motivation, confidence, and academic growth. All our tutoring programs take place in person. As an Aspire tutor, you’ll give back to the community while developing high-demand skills including communication, problem-solving, and creativity.

Location and Schedule

On-site (e.g, in person) at schools and youth-serving institutions
Oakland, San Francisco, and West Contra Costa (Richmond, San Pablo)
After school hours (afternoons/evenings) during the academic year (August through May/June).
Aspire can work with you to design a predictable schedule that works with your other commitments, including adjusting midyear if needed.
Two to four shifts per week; each shift lasts two hours.

Key Responsibilities
Your most important responsibility is to build relationships with the students you serve; mentorship is at the heart of Aspire’s approach to tutoring. You’re not expected to develop lesson plans; you’ll be focused on providing homework help to students and using the materials that Aspire provides in order to support students with their academic needs.

Provide academic support across multiple subject areas, primarily reading and math.
Teach and tutor groups of ~3-5 elementary students in an engaging and interactive way.
Monitor and track student attendance and progress throughout the program.
Communicate regularly with Aspire and partner staff regarding attendance, engagement, and growth.
Foster a supportive and motivating learning environment that promotes confidence and curiosity.
Record session notes in Aspire’s web-based system after each session.

Requirements

Minimum 1 year of tutoring, teaching, or coaching experience with elementary students.
Able to commute to assigned locations within the SF Bay Area. (Note that Aspire does not pay for commute time.)
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and behavior management skills.
Flexible, reliable, and able to adapt to a dynamic after-school setting.
Mandated Reporter training, TB Test, and LiveScan background check are required.
